Sorchas Design Studio

I began my career in design by studying Industrial Design. I then studied a BA(Hons) in Design and Applied Art at Edinburgh College of Art, where I specialised in Furniture Design. After finishing in College, I soon after got married and my two boys, whom I devoted my attention to; putting my design career on hold for a while. Now that they are teenagers, I can afford the time to refocus on my love of Art, Craft and Design.

I have always enjoyed the model making aspect of the design process, so when I discovered the craft of paper quilling, I immediately fell in love with it.

I now create beautiful bespoke pieces of art that can be personalized for an individual special occasion, such as a wedding, christening, birthday or first communion etc.

I am inspired by the beautiful rural countryside of Donegal, as well as the delicate structures of all things Botanical. My work reflects this in the intricate detailed nature of quilling, and in the colours I use.

I am at the beginning of my exploration of the craft and am excited to see where it takes me.
